Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge, located in McRae-Helena, Georgia, is looking for an aggressive, friendly, and dynamic Sales and Catering Manager.  We offer a culture that focuses on teamwork and high levels of customer service with an environment that empowers our team members to exceed guests' expectations.  Our ideal candidate will be engaged, hands-on, and prepared to offer "best in class" service!  As we continue to expand our business, we need a sales leader who can find the new sources of business while sustaining the success we currently have with our current companies, government organizations, families, and individuals. 

Our park is comprised of 1,360 acres of pine and hardwoods and a beautiful lake built by the CCC in the 1920s .   The Resort has 60 rooms, 10 lakefront cabins, a full service restaurant, catering, conference center, and one of the state’s leading 18 hole-golf course. We have recently completed phase one of a two phase renovation of the Lodge and will be completing the final phase this winter. In addition we offer 54 camp sites, 2 group shelters and 7 open air picnic pavilions, a swimming beach, and seasonally a Children’s Splash Pad.

The recently completed phase one renovation of the Lodge and guest rooms have moved our overnight facilities into regional leading quality.  The next phase will see the renovation of the final 30 rooms and the introduction of a full-service bar which will place our facilities into the premier position in the region for meetings and reunions.  We are needing the right person to lead the effort to capitalize on these renovation and  to fill the rooms and meeting facilities with the right customers.

The Sales and Catering Manager will lead the efforts on the property while being supported by our Atlanta and Naples offices.  This person will also be the point of contact for the various service and support departments and personnel on site to provide the team with the necessary information and direction to carry our signature service through the entire booking, stay, and rebooking cycle.    

We are managed by the Southeast's premiere hospitality management company, Coral Hospitality, on behalf of the North Georgia Mountains Authority and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

General: This position reports directly to the General Manager with oversight by the Regional VP of Sales and Marketing.  This is a salaried position with performance incentives.  Pay and benefits are competitive.  The position may require evenings and weekends as business demands dictate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

. Lead the property efforts in the development, implementation, and management of marketing and sales efforts focused on Golf Groups, Business Groups and Meetings and Social Groups with an eye for total property revenue development. 

. Working with our corporate marketing team, conduct social media solicitation campaigns to increase awareness of our services and secure clients.   Insure web site information is kept current.

. Conduct facility tours and site visits as necessary to secure business.

. Attend regional events as well as local community events to secure business.

. Follow up on inquiries and leads for meetings and events in a timely manner. Qualify customer needs and dates to determine if a group or event is a good fit for the property.

. Coordinate bookings such as reunions, weddings, community and other social events. Detail the events to insure all customer needs are understood.  Develop contracts, proposals, and customized menus to meet client needs. Close the sale with the customer obtaining customer deposits following SOP.

. Sell and monitor blocked lodging space to insure client is meeting their contractual obligations.  Initiate release of blocked space on cutoff date to allow sale of these rooms to other customers.

. Develop Group Lodging and Banquet Event Order (BEO) Meetings to review and have a thorough understanding of all group needs, events, and details.  Coordinate with the various department heads to insure proper execution of group expectations.

Actively work previous files to redevelop former business relationships for future opportunities and creatively work to find new streams of rooms, golf and meeting business.

. Maintain account files, ensuring accurate communication between client and Resort staff. 

. Secure and monitor pertinent information requirements related to catered events and maintain strict timelines for information between the Client, Culinary department and Banquet Captain.

Oversee the employees in the Banquets Department in accordance with company SOP and standards.

Work with outside vendors to make sure the Banquets Department has all needed supplies.

. Ensure proper service to clients during the banquet or event.  Act as the onsite contact.  Receive customer complaints and insure corrective action is taken.

Provide weekly reports to others in the local and corporate organization in order to keep the whole team engaged with providing service to our guests.

. Keep an open line of cuommunication with clients throughout the booking cycle to assure the customer has realistic expectations of the property, the property and department heads fully understand the group needs and expectations, service is provided during the stay in line with these expectations, and proper client follow up after events to thank the group contact for their business, solicit feedback both positive and negative that will benefit management and the event staff, and rebook the group and other affiliated groups for future dates.

Active involvement in community events and groups including the local chambers and CVB.

Minimum Requirements:

Demonstrated evidence of successfully growing business for a hotel.

Previous experience in a multifaceted sales environment.

Demonstrated knowledge and use of a personal computer including word, excel and PowerPoint and various POS and Sales Management software.

Experience with marketing is preferred but not required.
